The Element of Fire

In astrology, the fire element is associated with warmth and excitement. The enthusiasm of fire ignites other people’s interest. Fire burns and consumes, therefore, people who have a strong element of fire in their natal charts are busier, noisier and attract more attention than other signs.

They often question -

How do I ignite more passion and excitement into lives of others?

Here are some key traits and characteristics associated with the fire signs (Aries, Leo and Sagittarius) and the fire element in astrology:

  • visionary

  • passionate and hot

  • seeking attention

  • spontaneous

  • warm and generous

  • joyful and playful

  • requirement to have a goal

  • aim for the purpose

You have a strong fire element in your chart if you have at least two of the following:

  • Sun, Moon and/or Ascendant in Aries, Leo or Sagittarius

  • Mercury, Venus or Mars in Aries, Leo or Sagittarius

  • Your chart ruler (the ruler of your Ascendant - for example, for Gemini rising - Mercury, Leo rising - Sun) is in the fire sign

  • You have a stellium in Aries, Leo or Sagittarius

  • You have a planetary emphasis in 1st, 5th and/or 9th house (many of your natal planets are in these houses)

The fire element in astrology is burning with passion and desire - there’s an innate urge to do something important - to slay the dragon, fight for the right and against the wrong.

For this reason fire signs often generate more publicity, interest and attention.

It’s a part of their nature.

Fire cleanses and purifies.

Fire signs generate an aura, energy and charisma that naturally attracts people.

Someone strong in fire element can be a little insensitive and immature, unable to understand other people’s needs or being too dominating. These people can often feel self-interested and feeling important. There’s a need to consume the energy around them.

To pull away from this negative side of fire one needs to find a goal that serves higher purpose and fight for something of a larger value than the desires of their ego.

Life loves those who love to live life.

A perfect job for fire is the one that generates high enthusiasm. Fire signs are the teachers, the leaders, the promoters and the hustlers. They love to get people revved up and energised.

Fire is the element of energy and action, therefore, they tend to be excellent personal trainers, athletes and fitness people.

There’s a strong urge for competition, so work environment that provides a healthy competition is a must.

If you have a strong fire element in your natal chart you need to feel recognised at work and admired for what you do. There’s a strong intuition running deep in your veins. Your purpose is to find something that you strongly believe in and run with it.

Fire signs need to be aware of their ability to take it to the extremes and their compulsive nature. Quiet days does not equal depressive days. It means that there’s a need to rejuvenate, so that the fire doesn’t go out.

The cardinal fire - Aries - is here to strike the flame of the match, ignite and initiate. It’s all about assertiveness, chasing opportunities and adventures. Aries is an enterprising pioneer who’s not afraid to take action and, most importantly, take risks.

The fixed fire - Leo - is that of a regal heart. Leo preserves warmth and sustains generosity. They pledge to keep going and take action only when they wholeheartedly believe in something. It’s all about the deep trust in oneself and others, endurance and grand exposure.

The mutable fire - Sagittarius - is the bonfire that connects the teachers and the students of life. They are endlessly curious about life, especially the deeper meaning of it. Sagittarius ignites optimism and connects to the morals. Their expansive nature invites exploration and searching.

A word of caution

The way the natal chart manifests depends on the whole chart. No-one can, or should, judge a character by a single placement. The accuracy of astrology is only possible when a dialogue between a client and an astrology is created.

There’s a method to calculate the elemental, modal, planetary or sign strength. Therefore, this article should be used as a general guidance only and may not be reflective of one’s true nature.

For example, one may have a strong fire element in the chart, but a Neptune rising. Hence, presenting oneself in a more subtle, gentle, dreamy and sensitive manner.
